Podcasting: How to Upload Recordings
Before you begin: Copy files to your computer
It is good practice to copy files from external media to your local hard drive before working with them. Please follow these steps before continuing.
- Connect your card reader to your computer.
- Insert your CompactFlash card into the card reader.
- Navigate your computer to find the newly mounted media card (varies by operating system).
- Drag the file you want to your Desktop. The files from the Marantz recorder are named "####.mp3" The latest recording should be the one with the highest number. Also, if you recorded on a Marantz PMD570, the date and time of each file should be accurate. If you've recorded with a portable Sony recorder, the files are named "file####.mp3" and are not date/time stamped correctly (the portable recorders do not have internal clocks).
Step 1. Accessing your class podcast page.
Notice: It is recommended to upload files from the campus wired network for optimum results. The wireless network or off-campus connection may not be as fast.
Open your web browser and connect to your class podcast page. You can either do this by pasting the link you received via email into your browser's address bar, or going through your class web page using the link you created. Enter your campus ID and password if requested.
Step 2. Adding the Lecture Recording
Click the "Add Lecture" link located in the "Administration" box at the top left corner of the page.
Step 3. Adding Lecture Information and Uploading the MP3

Click "Choose File" and navigate to the recording on your computer.
Verify the "Rename MP3/4" checkbox is checked.
Verify the lecture date is correct.
Click the "Submit" button to upload your new lecture.
Step 4. Verify new lecture is available.
Verify your new lecture is available by checking the top entry on the podcast page. All new lectures appear at the top of this list.
